Trevor Botting has had a career in law enforcement spanning 41 years. Having started his policing career in Sussex Police in the UK, he served for 30 years reaching the rank of Superintendent. During his time with Sussex Police, Trevor built an impressive portfolio in Operations with ten years in roads policing, followed by roles within the Operations Department up to the rank of Chief Inspector, heading the Force Dog Unit, Underwater Search Team and the Tactical Firearms Unit. Trevor was a tactical and strategic firearms commander, leading high risk operations across the Force. He was also the Force lead for Hostage and Crisis Negotiation, being a Negotiator Coordinator. Prior to his promotion to Superintendent in the role of Crime and Operations for East Sussex, Trevor was the District Commander for Bexhill, delivering Neighborhood Policing for this district. Having served in Sussex for 30 years, Trevor was appointed as the Chief of Police for the British Overseas territory of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan Da Cunha. In this role, he was the Chief of Police, Chief Immigration Officer, Fire and Rescue Chief, Prison Superintendent, Head of Sea Rescue and national lead for emergency planning. During his tenure, he led the introduction of the first island wide Major Incident Plan as part of the new airport development. After just under four years as the Chief of Police on St Helena, Trevor was appointed the Deputy Commissioner of Police for another British Overseas Territory, the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean in 2017. After just over two years in this role, Trevor was appointed as the Commissioner of Police for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force in July 2019, where he served for four and half years. Trevor has built a wealth of experiencing of international policing and leading culturally diverse organisations serving culturally diverse communities. In his tenure as the Commissioner of Police, Trevor led the response to major two hurricanes (Irma and Maria) a fatal aircraft crash, the Covid-19 pandemic, and a surge in gang related crime. Trevor also served as the Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police, most notably leading the development of an Association Strategic plan for the 26 member states. Since leaving Policing, Trevor has been the Chair of Trustees for a Criminal Justice Charity in Sussex.
